CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • 2008 D Dollar Misplaced Letter ?

DSC01582.JPGThis looks like a misplaced E facing backwards . I believe its called dropd letter / incuse looks to be raised and not into the coin like the true E .

If it's raised then it's a contact mark from the edge of another dollar. I see this frequently.

Thank you . Hi Mike I tried to send you an email the 1 listed on the examiner listing on CONECA . Goggle said it was no longer active . Then I read on the forums you had stepped down from CONECA sorry to hear that . I had tried to contact Bill last month to examine a few coins but I had heard he was busy so I will try again .

I only stepped down as President. I'm still a member of CONECA and I still do error examinations. The e-mail address listed on the club website is still active. Perhaps you entered it wrong. It's em-dee-eye-eh-one-at-aol-dot-com.

I agree with Mike. In my opinion, this is most probably the result of the common occurrence of two coins being jammed up together on the their edges.

Bill lost his son in an accident and was at the ANA. Give him a bit of time.

Thank you Ken. I'm so sorry to hear that. Those are words none of us want to hear in life . My brother was ranked the number 1 mail carrier in the US. A young kid ran a stop sign and t-boned is LLV 3 years later he's still in court and he's disabled . The kid is fine of course he had no insurance ... Happened to me in 97 bad leg and shoulder and the guy had no insurance ...
