CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

A neat coin! Looks like it bumped the die during the strike.

This is not a "sideneck strike" ("one-die saddle strike"). The facet is flat, not concave. These flat facets always lie opposite the base of Jefferson's bust at 6:00, and separated from it by about a centimeter. The location of a sideneck strike will be toward 11:00. The unstruck portion of these nickel planchets is being pushed into some obstruction, but I'm not sure what it is. Possibly the side of a feeder. All I know is that the appearance and location is consistent and that it occurs only in nickels and cents.

In this auction, the nickel on the right shows the same flat facet: http://www.ebay.com/itm/391209947075
