  • Help needed with a 'double indent' error

I know this is not an American coin however the origin is of no relevance and this particular area of the forum is much more active than the foreign section, but feel free to move it if necessary. I am enquiring about a coin which is slabbed by NGC as a 'double indent' error, however any indent errors I have seen in the past are always showing the same shape as the coin itself, as it should with this type of error, however this coin shows a completely different shape and also has a raised part in the indent. Can anyone help me identify if this is a real error and also if it has been correctly attributed? Any help is appreciated.
    Matt

It's not a double indent. This may represent an indent from a coin with two off-center uniface strikes, or it might just be a peculiar crease. I've seen this effect on quite a few coins. -- Mike Diamond

Thank you for the swift reply Mike, I guess my next question would be if this error is a genuine mint error or if it's just PMD/PSD? It is one that I am considering buying so don't want to be out of pocket as it is a little expensive IMHO. I do not have a similar error in my collection however, so for now I would accept the extra premium that's been applied.
