1918 Lincoln Cent Planchet Error?
The reverse on this cent has a large jagged deep oval gouge. I thought PMD but the dies obviously were able to strike through the gouge and leave their impression. Is there a more correct name for this type of error? Also note how the upper half of the reverse is somewhat blank. Thank you as always for any opinions.Bob

Now that is definitely something that I hadn't thought of...a material soft soft enough to preserve the underlying devices...but hard enough to gouge out the copper. Thank you Mike....I NEVER would have put that scenario in play. Once again...this forum and membership are invaluable!Bob
