1972 Lincoln ddo freebie :)

Picked this up at my LCS today. Best part it was free.... well I did buy some other specimens but..... it's toned, it's MAD, it's has a sweet die crack,and a tad bit of lamination issues,best of all its a ddo!

Nice Spike Head. The Die Crack on your coin enters the "W" in "WE" in a different location than the SKH-1c-1972-02 listed on Cuds-on-Coins.

The 1972 year was plagued with a master die which produced a lot of master die doublings, to the tune of 60%+ of all the Lincoln Cents made that year. The other DDO's also plagued the 1972 year. The Master Die doubling, which most consider worthless has a "T" in LIBERTY that looks abnormal, along with the last "T" in TRUST. The rest of IGWT looks like a DDO on the Master Die doubling, but the true DDO, most of them have some doubling on LIBERTY with one set of letters raised slightly higher than the other set. Most of the DDO's that I have seen from 72, exhibit almost dual legs on both of the "T's" in TRUST. My Pick up points for the 72 is TRUST and the nearly obvious doubling in LIBERTY. Let me shoot a quick photo of a 72 DDo die 3...... Its something to compare. Sure there are like 7 or so confirmed DDO's for 1972, with 3 and I think #7 the most common. This coin is slabbed so the lighting may not be the best.
