This got me thinking, is this coin possibly from the same die (which may have had only the missing F initial originally), being in a DIE STATE before any clash or just over polishing took the third feather away? Interesting.

1919 P Buffalo Nickel NO F Initial THREE FEATHERS
Here is a 1919 P Buffalo Nickel with No "F" Designer Initial, BUT the Cherrypicker's Guide lists a 1919 P "Two Feather Version + Missing Designer's Initial. FS-05-1919-401 (016.6) states, "The obverse die was heavily polished, probably to remove clash marks. The result was a die with the innermost feather missing....... Also missing is the designer's initial.
