CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    Dropped Letters Error. Quarters

    So many different opinions on Grease errors. I have a 1998 P Washington Quarter. Missing IN in the phrase IGWT. The G is so faint you need to magnify. The T in trust same way. There are no visible signs of tampering. The president's bust is Precise.

    I have no problem confirming this is a struck through grease error. (A dropped letter error is different in that the clogged alphanumeric character falls out and is struck into a coin - that is not what we are seeing here). I am not sure how people could have differing opinions - they are pretty straight forward.

      I have people say I rubbed the missing letters off. I'm strong but come on. I'm new to all this coin collecting. Do it cause of my daughter. Anyhow, thank you so much. I will now research what struck through grease error. Your wonderful and patient.
