  • 1896 Morgan Dollar---Reverse Doubling

I have three of these 1896 Morgan Dollars that I found in a small batch of coins that I bouhgt from someone a few years back. The reverse on them all have the same doubling on them that looks like die doubling to me. The only thing my Vam book shows concerning the reverse is the Vam-1B, and it is about some pitting around a couple letters and nothing about any doubling, so if mine is real die doubling, then it should be a new variety. I would appreciate your comments.

Hopefully I am not mistaking, however, the doubling appears to be MDD (machine damge doubling). If this is the case, then it could happen on a die that is listed as a VAM which would not make it a new discovery piece, just a VAM with this form of doubling.
