    1984 DDO or MDD?

I posted this earlier on Lincoln Cent Resource and I would like some additional opinions. Is this a DDO or a worn die(MDD etc.)?

Interestingly, one just like it(but in better cond) is currently up for auction on E-bay as a DDO 1. Bidding is up to $200.00.

I don't think this is the DDO1 due to doubling on nose and throat. Please advise if this is anything other than MDD.

    Thanks in advance.

It's definitely machine doubling. The marginal shelving is characteristic.

Would you believe that I have one also?

      Surprisingly similar in appearance.

        What a shame

        Thanks Mike and BJ.

Thats it exactly. Its a shame that someone is bidding on another one of these on E-Bay that's described as the DDO1 in Cherry Pickers Guide. Bidding is up to $200.00. Only a few hours left.

        Here is the E-Bay link:

The "lucky winner" has been notified. He had only one feedback and was taken. Should be able to return it if he chooses to. Unfortunatly too many others just like him and as the Lincoln Cent gets more attention in the next few years, cases like this will be all to common. It is a shame..

This article shows two extreme examples of machine doubling that undermine the "damage" sobriquet.

Minterrornews.com has become one of the most popular and informative Internet resources for mint errors and is read by thousands of dealers and collectors. Two major minterrornews.com sponsors are Mike Byers and ANACS. Mike Byers is the Publisher and Editor of Mint Error News Magazine.
