CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • Off Planchet

    2017 P. Cent. Planchet is totally off- diameter 17.75mm; about 1.90 thick;
    This coin was found while coin roll hunting.
    The metal composition seem to be off in comparison to the other 2017 pennies. Doubling is also seen on the obverse on the letters, I, N, G, and strongly on W.

    Thats damage. No doubling. With the rim looking like that I would say its an early stage of a dryer coin. PMD

      Just by the pictures alone I can guarantee you this is a copper-plated zinc cent. Not sure why you think it "seems" like an off-metal planchet. It's not. Kloccwork is correct that it is just a beat-up cent with a beat-up rim. Damaged. Nothing more. Keep up the hunt.
