  • 1999P Die Chip/Die Crack- top of Lincoln's Head?

While searching through BU rolls of 1999P LMC'S- I found these markings

So far, I have found 9 coins with these identical marks.

Is this a die chip at the top of lincoln's head and then following it ,a die crack down into the eye area of lincoln?

The pictures are just from 3 of the coins- the other 6 have the same identical chip/crack, if thats what they are. All from the same die more than likely.

That is a fairly common area for a die crack with die chips to form. If the die was still used after the formation of that die crack, it is a good chance that it went through WE and on to the rim.

      Thanks!

I ended up with 26 coins having this diechip/crack etc. out of a 10 roll OBW 1999P's- approx 19.23%- very bad ratio for these to be scarce. (LOL)

I did find a different die crack on another 99 p- this one was in one of my Whitman Coin Folders. It has a die crack from the rim down onto lincoln's forehead but goes to his eyebrow and there is no die chip.

      Pics are below.
