Thanks Mike for your reply,
I've enclosed links to larger images. The reverse shows the doubling better. Also I enclosed 2 pictures of the void in the obverse. I believe this could be a planhcet flaw where there was a void in the planchet prior to the strike. The metal is all at the same level even though the picture appears to have a raised area

Your files are way too large. And despite the size of the photos, the resolution is rather poor. I still can't tell for sure what kind of doubling you have, but my guess is machine doubling. Lincoln's head still looks like it has post-strike damage.Mike Diamond. Error coin writer and researcher.

Mike,
The obverse looks like a 2 tooth saw blade got jammed in at an angle. Wonder if that could have happened before the strike? No way to know I guess?
You’re probably right about the obverse (I should have said REVERSE) doubling being MDD.The picture attached of the reverse is the best I can do for now. Is there any listed DDR’s for this date? The doubling does not show the sharp inside radius I've seen on the other MDD and the plating does not seem to be broken anywere, if the varitity is not already listed, It's most likely MDD.
Thanks again for your help.

Something hit the coin at an angle. You picture does appear to show the development of a pressure ridge on the right side, which would indicate the impact came after the strike. To check on the possibility of a doubled die, you might wish to refer to the CONECA files: http://www.conecaonline.org/variety_listings.html.Mike Diamond. Error coin writer and researcher.
