  • 1 Dollar Morgan 1886

Good evening I would like to thank you for admitting me to the Group. A few days ago I bought a strange 186 Morgan coin with 8 feathers. I looked a little on the internet and searched for that coin. I found only 1878 with 8 I was at erspart to ask if the coin was original and made of silver. The answer was positive. I need your help with this coin. Thank you in advance, Nikolai

What does the coin weigh? It should be close to 26.73 grams.

Also, grab a picture of the rim.

It's a bird! It's a plane! Aw nuts... It's merely two die scratches!

My opinion is that it is a fake of some sort, as the reverse is wrong style. It would need to be examined by a specialist to determine otherwise I should think. I just don't see a way that you have a new variation of reverse die on a series that is this well examined by enthusiasts to the point where they list the exact amount of dies used (63 obverses and 60 reverses: source) .
