CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    I’m feeling lucky punk

    Ok, so “punk” was just for dramatic effect. This is likely PMD but, I’m feeling lucky. Could this be struck thru? I’m limited on quality photos because of the upload limit. I’ll do my best.

    Long scratch-like injury to the reverse of the coin. Not raised, snags toothpick too.

      If it is not raised, it is a scratch that was done after it left the mint.

      For circulated coins, it's tough to identify a "wire or fragment" style strike unless there is some evidence of some of that material within the strike area.

        Definitely a scratch post mint damage. You can see at the rim where it dragged the metal. On a strike through error, it does not do that; it simply leaves a smooth impression, or obscures sunken die elements.
