1982 D Large Date Copper Lincoln Cent Questions!
I'm still learning how to distinguish between a Doubled die and strike doubling but mainly in this date the 8 and 9 and the MM, I'm thrown off! Also in God and and We! On the reverse also the designer initials look different and America possibly has some doubling? I'm trying to only post coins that I have researched extensively before posting on here asking questions!Tags: None

It's important to note that back then, they added the mint mark after the die was made. Being a separate process, it normally is not part of a doubled die. In the 1990s they added the mint mark as part of the die, and if it is doubled on the newer coins, it may be a doubled die.
The photos are good, but at the magnification, it seems a little difficult to be absolutely sure. What I think I see on this coin is die detioration, or simply put, a worn die.
When the dies are made, they are pristine, sharp edges. Over time,, these edges become worn and the quality of the strike suffers a bit.. all these no longer sharp edges can cause die to shift ever so slightly and it may introduce some light damage onto the coins.
I have a link in my signature which shows some machine doubling and a doubled die as we'll. There are a few coins on the post to help test your knowledge.
I am just a single voice in here,, so please wait for others to chime in.Gary Kozera

I am very greatful for your knowledge and anyone else's knowledge on here! Most of you guys try to give the knowledge to people and they are to "in love with their coins" to listen and learn! I am also expecting MD, because I'm not seeing the actual widening of the different letters as crisp and some of the ones on VV and other coin research sites! But I'm still learning and got my mind and ears open!
