CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    Kennedy Half dollar rim issue

    Interesting rim issue. I’m fairly new to error coin collecting so not sure what the error is here or even if it is an error. Thanks for any input!

    Hard to tell from pictures but there appears to be die fatigue associated with your coin's strike. Better pictures are needed including one from the obverse.

        that is what i usually attribute that gully around the rim and other devices to, die fatigue. there are some morgans with this effect, especially on the rev that are VERY neat imo.

        iirc, these effects usually spawn from improper tempering, basining etc. there is some good material out on the subject, spread across a few sites/forums.
