1883 IHCent die chip

After taking a picture of this coin (trying to capture the toning) I noticed this cent appeared to show a lot of teeth.
Anyone else ever seen or heard of this anomaly?

Are you talking about the denticles around the rim ?
If so, those are supposed to be there for the obverse and reverse.
There is a high chance that heavily circluated Indians may lose some of the denticles but, some should be visible.

Hi Gary, thanks for responding!
I thought this might be the response by someone, lol. I appreciate it, but there is another place on the coin that teeth are normally in most cases but not normal to this coin.

The teeth seen in this location on this coin is an anomaly, or pareidolia, both make no sense….for the coin.?

It would take a microscope and a toothpick or other soft tool to see what is going on here. If this was a die issue, on MS quality coins it would have been brought up a long time ago. There is a version of the 1883 Indian Head cent that has a die crack on her cheek. Another runs within LIBERTY. Flip it over and the reverse is a DDR.

Not sure about this one, looks strange. I don't know if they are die chips, or some one messing with the coin and tossing it back. In my opinion, logic says its been altered.

Hard to say, I’ve had the cent for many, many years and was just using it this day to learn to take better photos of a coins real tone appearance and noticed and asked…if ..and maybe….
