CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    Maya Angelou Quarter - Mint Error or PMD?

    Hello! I found a Maya Angelou quarter with something interesting on the reverse. Please see photos attached. Is this a mint error or pmd? I am still learning about mint errors and varieties. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

    In my opinion, that looks like pmd, some sort of shearing, possibly done by a coin counter or other action which removed some of the material. It's tough to know what happened. Once coins hit circulation, its open season for damage, as well as creativity done in a garage.
