1943 D Wheat RPM FS-501

Hi, I believe I have found a 1943 FS-501 RPM Steel Wheat. I was hoping you could help me decide if i need to send it in for attribution or not. Thanks in advance!

nice find.

it looks like your coin should straight grade but the general rule is we don't (i'm not official) do grade estimations or valuations.

that said, if you already have a pcgs/ngc or whatever membership, it is worth sending off based on coinfacts data and the fact your coin LOOKS like from the image like it would straight-grade. i obviously can't guarantee that but it looks nice. - it is also best to send it in with other coins to help absorb the cost as it is a nice find but i wouldn't send this off by itself. maybe you know someone you can "piggyback" their order? i'd also take the slow service to conserve fees.

now if you are very good grader with steelies and you look up the values and you determine it is worth sending off on it's own, more power to ya.

Although the photos are a bit fuzzy, it looks like an RPM.

I do not know if the CONECA staff is accepting submissions yet.

You can however can get a confirmation from a CONECA staff member.

Go to the top left of this page and select the FORUMS tab.
That brings you to the main forum page.
Look for CONECA SERVICES.
Find the ATTRIBUTION area under CONECA SERVICES.
Place a post in there with as much text about the coin. And as many clear, not fuzzy photos for the attributor tolook over. It's best to load up as much data as you can on the first post, so it will not be necessary for them to make a second round....which may take some time.

CONECA will determine if it is an RPM but I personally have never sent in anything to them. So I am unclear on what typeof paperwork or holder it might include. Gut instinct says, the holder you send it in, will be the one that is returned to you.

The third party grading (TPG) services are quite expensive. The cheapest is probably ANACS.com
They have representatives at a lot of shows and assist people with submissions, and deciding on whether to send in a coin or a lot of coins. They have an "insider program" that gives specials, and some are early birds, which can get a decent discount. They also offer discounts on certain fees, and may offer a great slabbing offer like the " mid Atlantic special" on the east coast. They can help fill out the paperwork and take the submission at their table and it costs you nothing for the shipping to ANACS.

Fees to have things slabbed vary greatly. ANACS charges 19 buck on its slowest service, which may take up to 7 weeks. Check the pricing for single and multiple coin prices. I have not sent in a coin in a while, so prices may have changed.

shipping back to you can run close to 24 bucks or more. It's typically sent back UPS or Fedex. It has to be insured as well, so that is the reason for slightly higher shipping fee. The back of the form breaks down shipping costs.

So in a nut shell, sending it in to ANACS by yourself would cost you shipping to them (8 bucks), grading and slabbing is some where near 19 bucks, verification fee ( for the RPM) is somewhere near 10 bucks, and shipping back to you depending on the shipping chart. Might be 24 bucks. Check their latest form for pricing or call ANACS customer service.

NGC and PCGS will be more expensive. Call them for a price break down.

Depending on what you do with the coin, is all on you . You may want to take into consideration how much the coin is worth, the money invested into the coin, time it takes to get it certified.
