CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • Error Value?

    Hey Fellow Hunters,

I found this recently and am curious of if it is worth sending in?

The photos background seemingly affect the detail of the coin, under magnification the coins surface doesn’t seem to have as many flaws.

I believe its a quarter missing its outter clad layering. Is this somewhat common?

I’ve been considering Consignment lately, and am unsure of the best route to take as far as what to send in to consignment first.

Please help by commenting your opinion?

    Thank You All,
    Izrafel (Noob Hunter)

Greetings, this looks more like a foreign substance on the coin, just doesn't have the look of a missing clad layer, especial being both sides.
Try to soak it in 100% acetone for a long period of time and see if anything comes off. Here is an article on Missing Clad Errors:
