"UNIT'I'ED" 1990 Lincoln Cent Reverse
Hello - I found this 1990 Lincoln Memorial Cent (photos below and attached) via roll hunting and found a peculiar anomaly on the reverse in the word "United" as it reads UNIT"I"ED with an extra piece of metal. I have no idea what is going on or what could have caused it. Split plating? You do not have permission to view this gallery.

As far as the extra, not certain that it is a Die Chip but more likely a Platting Blister swelling with Zinc Rot underneath. See here.

Hi Nicole, Welcome! There seems to be a long die crack going South East from the rim above the T and going into the Lincoln Memorial! The crack caused a rectangular die break along the T and looks like it continues through the field to a die chip on the lower roof. Although from your picture it kinda resembles a long plating blister. I cannot see if the crack extends along the roof past that lower die chip or not. There is definately a crack and chip on the building, whether they connect or not is hard to see if there is a crack in the field. The rectangular die break is very interesting on the "T" near that doubled rim, which may indicate a misaligned die also. Some folks call these Zincoln Cents, as on this one you can see the plating issue above the ITED and STATES. Have fun at ERROR-REF.COM!
