  • 1964-D Lincoln Cent - Reverse Multi-Strike?

While roll hunting I found a 1964-D Lincoln Cent with a strange reverse. It looks like it was struck multiple times, but just around the lettering. It doesn't appear to have affected the Memorial.

    Any ideas what kind of error this is? 20230726_214921.jpg 20230726_215004.jpg 20230726_215010.jpg 20230806_162446.jpg 20230806_162037.jpg 20230806_162416.jpg 20230806_162450.jpg 20230806_162353.jpg

In my opinion, it's heavily circulated. The issue is evident all the way around the coin, close to the rim. It's discolored and fuzzy. It may have been a dryer coin at one time. It then gets put back into circulation where the wear makes most of the evidence fade. IF this was a multistruck coin, which I do not believe it is, it would have been plucked from circulation when it was in much better condition.
