CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • 1943 qtr DDO?

Here are pics of a 1943 qtr I have had for a while. The 3 looks like the 3 in the RedBook to me.

Any chance I'm right? Thanks for opinions. If needed I'll get more pics.

The picture in the "Red Book" I believe is of CONECA die 6-O-I CCW, which is also listed in the CPG as FS-25-1943-102.

While the "Red Book" shows the picture of the 3 digit, the true doubling on this well known doubled die is in LIBERTY, which is very strong. So, if your coin does not show at least some notching on the bottom right serifs of the letters in LIBERTY, it is probably not this die.

      Thanks BJ.

Unfortunately, I only have the Penny and Nickle volume of the CPG. Is there anyplace else I can get pics online to compare to?

I wish that I could send you the pictures in the new CPG, however, it would infringe on their copyrights and that is something that I would not do to either J. T. or Bill.

There maybe a quarter person out in this forum who could help. We will just have to wait and see.
