Collar shimmy

Good morning Can a collar shimmy happen on/to all coins? Or, is it just reeded coins?

All would be my guess. Whats a shimmy? Like a tilted die? Or a rotated die. A broad struk? Feeder finger,? What coin do you have for an example? Is this just a brainstorm? I go to glossary to check

Hi,
I have a penny that has something going on with the rim or near it. It looks shifted a little and that is why I asked the question but am not certain it falls under the collar shimmy designation.

My amature guess is that you have found a coin with a misalighned die.

This is a MisAligned Die (or MAD) strike with a ridge ring. for collar shimmy on a cent it would show as indenting damage on the edge. your obverse die was not lined up with the bottom die.

Great thank you for that I didn't think that it aligned with a collar shimmy either but wanted to know if a collar shimmy could happen with coins that weren't reeded as well. Have a nice evening and thank you
