  • 1986p nickel - spots on face/brown areas on back is it pmd or errors

There are black spots on and around the face. On the back there are several areas of brown. I would like to know if the coin has rust or copper and what happened to it? Thanks in advance for all replies

In my opinion, more than likely post mint damage. Any damage like that is superficial, surface like would have worn off years ago in circulation. To add, the reverse was starting to look like a dryer coin. Some material near the rim was starting to separate. More pmd on the reverse in form of a scratch.
