1979 filled d
I found a 1979 d that appears to have the d filled. Also it looks like it was struck on the wrong planchet compared to others I have. Any insight would be greatly appreciated thank you for your time and consideration. Ps sorry for all the photos I just couldn't get a clear picture IMG_20240115_022712816_BURST000_COVER.jpg IMG_20240115_022656724.jpg IMG_20240115_022656724.jpg IMG_20240115_022712816_BURST000_COVER.jpg IMG_20240115_022712816_BURST000_COVER.jpg IMG_20240115_022712816_BURST000_COVER.jpg IMG_20240115_022712816_BURST000_COVER.jpg IMG_20240115_022712816_BURST000_COVER.jpg IMG_20240115_022712816_BURST000_COVER.jpg IMG_20240115_022712816_BURST000_COVER.jpg -
In my opinion, A filled mint mark is nothing more than some debris that entered the area of the mintmark.
As for the wrong planchet theory, you need some evidence of this other than it maybe toned differently. It could have been cleaned, been exposed to chemicals, or even been exposed to the weather or even in the ground for a short period of time.
I suggest getting a scale that goes down to the hundredths of a gram (X.xx).
Weigh the coin to know whether it's within tolerance of a normal coin, approximately 3.11 grams. It's not an exact science for these planchets/coins.
In the mean time lay another coin side by side to the coin in question. See if there is any significant difference in height.
Put one cent on top of the other and look the rim side. See if they look close to the same thickness.
I have turned off most notifications on this forum since I was getting way too many emails from it. I will attempt to see what your findings were at a later date.Last edited by MintErrors; 01-15-2024, 09:39 AM.Gary Kozera

Im sure I have a scale somewhere. I have to find it before I can update you on that aspect. For now here is a side bye side photo of it with another coin. I will update response later on today with the other information asked of me.IMG_20240115_022639680.jpg
