CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    Lincoln cent 1993, Incomplete plating error.

    Esta moneda tiene un chapado incompleto en el centro del anverso, pero tiene pequeñas virutas de cobre donde falta el chapado. Esto podría ser una anomalía.

    In my opinion, a very difficult to say what this is. It could have been some one put a cigarette out on the coin. Typically unplated zinc cents that are unplated, over time, tend to fall apart. I can see hints of copper here and there. When coins go into circulation, it can be very difficult to know what happened.

    It could have been on the ground face down for a while. It's tough to tell what it is.

    When the zinc cent has the copper layer compromised, it tends to stain the coin. These zinc can look really ugly some times.


    En mi opinión, es muy difícil decir qué es esto. Podría haber sido que alguien apagó un cigarrillo sobre la moneda.
