1968 Kennedy Half Dollar that weighs 10.12g. Possibly struck on wrong planchet? How do I find out?

The normal clad Kennedy weighs close to 11.3 grams. This is a little lower.

    Questions:

Does this Kennedy have a mintmark?
Does the reeding show copper and some nickel ?
Does the reeding look complete all the way around the coin?
Is the rim intact all the way around the coin on the obverse and reverse?
Are there any letters close to the rim that are cut off, and there is little to no rim visible?
Does it stick to a magnet ? ( WARNING ! Be careful not to scratch the coin. Use a medium thick plastic or heavy cloth between magnet and coin.)

Below are some specifications for Kennedy Half Dollars:

    Weight

    1964: 12.50 grams
    1965-1970: 11.50 g
    1971-Date: 11.34 g
    1976 Silver Collector Coins: 11.50 g
    1992-Date Silver Proof: 12.50 g

    Weight Tolerance (+/-)

    1964: 0.259 grams
    1965-1970: 0.400 g
    1971-Date: 0.454 g
    1976 Silver Collector Coins: 0.400 g
    1992-Date Silver Proof: 0.400 g

    Actual Silver Weight (ASW)

    1964: 0.3617 Troy Ounces
    1965-1970: 0.1479 Troy Ounces
    1971-Date: 0.0000 Troy Ounces
1976 Silver Collector Coins: 0.1479 Troy Ounces
1992-Date Silver Proof: 0.3617 Troy Ounces

    Diameter: 30.61 mm

    It could be:

An underweight planchet - basically metal rolled too thin.
A wrong planchet, but some extensive research has to be done. It has to match the diameter and weight and a good guess at what it was made of.

I highly suggest weighing other Kennedy Half Dollars and ensuring the scale is pretty accurate. It doesn't have to exact, but pretty close (within the tolerances).

Next step is to view this 60+ pages of data.

You need to find a year that matches the coin you have.
It also has to match the US Mint that produced your coin.
It has to match the diameter and weight of your coin.

    The PDF is here:
    https://minterrornews.com/foreign_co...on_figures.pdf

It may take a bit to go through all those pages, but you may find a match.
For instance, scrolling through the years, I see:

    PAGE 6 of 69:

1968 from Costa Rica, Struck in Philadelphia Mint, 1 Colon, 75% copper, 25% nickel, weighs 10 grams, and is 29mm in diameter.
NOT QUITE a match, but close. The diameter is off some, meaning the reeding and rim may not be intact since the metal may not have traveled all the way to fill the collar.

There are many other possibilities in the PDF....

This looks like a 1968 D is that correct?
There are no photos of the reverse ?

Photos are great, but I personally don't have the time to go through all 60+ pages to try to find a match. I will leave that task up to you.

Since this 1968 may have been minted in Denver, one has to start over, looking for a coin minted in 1968, from Denver (D), with a metal composition of 75% copper / 25% nickel, close to 10.1 grams of weight, with approximately 30.6mm diameter.
