  • 2019 D Lincoln cent/foriegn planchette

I have a 2019 D Shield Penny on what seems to be a dime planchette but is a little light on weight 1.83g I’m not sure if it’s worth sending in to be graded. I was hoping that I could rely on some of your knowledge in this matter.

In my opinion, this is post mint damage. Its damage occured after it left the mint. The copper plating on the coin was ground off. Below the copper a silverish blue zinc core. The reason is it is so light is due to the removal of material.

dang, it is kinda impressive to remove that much metal so cleanly around the design like that and have so much of what appears to be the original copper plating.

also it appears to be smaller in diameter.

Yeah, I have one of those. It was purposely ground for machine acceptance as a dime.
