2008p Nickel improperly anealed planchet
In different lighting this nickel takes on different tones so I've included a pic with "regular" ones..my question is do the rim cuds add a second possible error(s) or the little extra pieces near LIBERTY? The reverse doesn't take on the same look but has the colors instead..2nd question, is it possible that a planchet can be improperly anealed on one side only? Thanks for any infoTags: None

In my opinion, no the anealed coins are in a furnace at extremely high temperatures. I am not sure of the temp for nickels but cents I believe are at 1700 F.
You nickels are circulated, so it can be quite a feat to tell what they were exposed to in circulation. The coin I think your referring to is the rust colored coin. Photos are fine but which is which is a bit confusing. In the future, i suggest posting just the subject coin obverse and reverse. Then, replying to your own post, add photos and a clarification note and photos. It would help.
Here is an article on improperly anealed coins.
