CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

    1C Wheat 44D DDO RPD?

The "1" on the date of this coin looks broad.
My analysis: I suspect it is post mint damage from something hitting the digit. The top part looks lower than the lower part. Also it is only the "1" that is broad. I don't see how a die could be made that way and I think the date was on the master die/hub.

When I first saw it and it wasn't in CPG I was hoping with a good amount of doubt. Then when I took the pics I became more sure of it being PMD.

In my opinion, You are correct, it is post mint damage.
Its arly in the morning, but i cannot come up with a single year in the Lincoln centvseries that had a repunched date. Doubled dies - yes - several DDOs and DDRs throughout the series.

For future coins, I suggest researching some other references in addition to the cpg. The cpg has only a handful of listings, and it typically focuses on just FS style coins. The websites below have many other varieties.

          Conecaonline.info
          Varietyvista.com
          Doubleddie.com
          Coppercoins.com

For error coins, a great reference is

          Happy hunting.

Thanks! I will check those. Looked at error-ref.com and it has some people I really respect running that site. Also people who have helped me in the past when I was really off base. Still learning and still hunting!
