CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

    finning on this cent?

This structure on a '45-S wheat cent appears below "liberty." It looks shelf like and appears to be not connected to the field. Debris under the shelf makes it hard to be certain. On the rim side it appears to be an arc of the same radius as the rim. The lower part of the "fin" seems to be attached to the rim but on the field side not the edge side.
I don't see any evidence of finning elsewhere along the edge or rim. The "fin" looks like copper. At least it has that color.
The pictures show the area with light from the left in one pic and from the right in the other. 1CWheat45SDigUnderLibertyLeftCropped.jpg 1CWheat45SDigUnderLibertyRightCropped.jpg
