CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    1864 2 Cent Large Motto under weight ( 5.7 Grams )

    Images taken with a cell phone . I've own this coin for 10 years or so, I found it roll searching quarters . I just weight it, and it weights 5.7 grams . It should weight 6.22 grams, I know it has some ware, but I don't think that would put it this far underweight . To me it look like its on a copper planchet and not a bronze planchet . I know in 1863 the mint had some pattern coins they were striking and one was a copper planchet ( 1863 312a ) The weight of this copper planchet was between 76 grains and 101 grains, which this planchet is in tolerance with .         I was thinking about getting it done, but not sure how much it would cost Mike . Any ideals, or who to send it to ..

          NGC provides this service, for a hefty price ($75 I think). That's in addition to their slabbing fees. Not worth it on such a long shot, in my opinion.

            I guess I could be happy with just the underweight version .. Then maybe one day get it done ...
