



It did a number on the incused designer initials... SS became SS SS. The photo above compares this coin (left) with a coin with moderate MD (center) and with a Sac dollar with no MD (right).

Thanks for doing the article Mike. It was great -- and the photos turned out much better than the CW article -- as you said they would. I still have not attempted to have it slabbed as double struck. I've been waiting to see if any more turned up. I figure that if it did turn out to be MD, many more would have been cranked out with a similar degree of doubling (just as I saw with Kansas quarters). As extreme as this is, they'd have turned up on eBay by now if they exist in quantity. I've been watching, and as far as I know, this one is unique.
