CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

    1982D and 1984D Mint Error?

cropped 1984D-1.jpg cropped 1982D-1.jpg Looking to see if these are actual mint errors or not. I didn't post complete pictures of each because I wasn't sure if the server would reject them.
    Thanks

There is a CONECA policy that says to post one coin per thread to keep the chaos to a minimum. In both cases, these coins are just damage or Post mint damage (PMD) as the case for the '82.

Server rejects photos that are over 2mb per photo with a maximum of seven photos per individual reply. Best size is about 600x600 pixels, with about 800x800 being close to the max width.

The 1984 was probably struck too hard and the area around the mintmark exposed the inner layers of the zinc. It may show up within IN GOD WE TRUST as well, probably close to the rim.
