1957D-1C Missing and Added Material Error?

The answer is almost always post-mint damage, but I've not seen added copper appear in addition to incuse errors. Might the increasing weakness of U-S-T in TRUST, suggest the strike partially was impeded by a object between the die and the planchet. Has anyone seen an error of this type before? Was this a bizarre welding accident?!

    Thanks all!

    Pete

Most likely environmental damage. There is no way this could happen in the minting process in the end just PMD.
