CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    1982 D Small Date Copper Lincoln Error Cent

    With close inspection under the microscope, this coin appears to be one of the 1982 D Small Date Copper Lincoln Error Cent. We will ask CONECA to take a close examination of this coin.

    The weight of the coin is 3.11 grams.
    This is a copper coin.
    The number 2 is a small date.
    This coin appears to have the letter D on it.

    In my opinion, that is not a D.
    That looks like a piece of metal or lamination that is on that coin.
    It does not resemble a "D" shape.
    3.11 grams should make it a copper coin.
    The two does resemble a small date two.

    It's not considered an error. Its considered a "variety".
