CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    1957 d wheat cent doubling

    I have a 1957 d wheat cent it looks like machine doubling but wanted someone with a little more knowledge to look.

      Is the lower half of the B in liberty filled also? 57 was a good year for all of these.

            Yes, a pretty severe version of worthless doubling.
            The die simply damaged the coin milliseconds after the strike.
            It looks like the die scraped the coin towards the northwest.
            It has the classic shelf like and lower worthless doubling look.
