    Lincoln cent 1999. VDB error

This is from Die wear for an incuse design element. Try to take better clear photos of such areas.

It looks more of a U Checking some cents I ran into this problem, instead of the initials VDB VVD appears. It could be a wear or is it common to happen.

The VDB designers initials are subject to a little less wear, but they are easily prone to having debris enter the letters. I would imagine only the top of the D gets debris and it sticks, Then it looks more li,e a half sized U than anything else. Most collectors ignore this since the area is so small.

It's either debris filled, was partially removed by a mint worker due to die maintanence or its die wear.

The photos you asked for, I hope they are helpful. I think there is one that looks good.

Thank you, i see the normal debris filled and or Die wear that affects these incuse devices very easily as M.E stated above. I can make out the V.D.B on one of the photos.
