Introducing myself
My name is James A Fox however I go by "Jamie". I have been collecting coins for a long time, but just started doing something with them since I retired. I am here because I have a few coins I am in the need of getting Authenticated. The most important one is is a 1971 S Ike Dollar that I am pretty sure is a "PROTOTYPE". Unfortunately everyone seems to feel that it has to be exactly like the last one sold by Heritage Auctions, and graded by PCGS. I joined "The Ike Group" and it seems impossible to get it Authenticated there. I have read that CONECA has been involved with this process a few times. So here I am in need of help. I would appreciate any help I can Receive from anyone. Thanks... JamieTags: None

Welcome aboard.
As for authentication of the coin, it probably would be best to place a post in the CONECA SERVICES forum. The "prototype" might fit in either a variety or an error, I guess it depends on how one approaches the meaning. I would choose the Examination area and put a post in there.
I would add as many good photos and supporting text of what you are seeing, any documentation links or data to support the claim. If you have a scale, I would add the weight in grams, if possible down to one-hundreth of a gram (x.xx g). Amazon sells kitchen scales near 20 bucks.
I say the above to save time. If all the info is in a single post, it cuts down the number of visits the CONECA staff have to make per post. They will take a look at what is offered in data and determine if they need to see it in hand.
Coneca staff are made up of some volunteers. Some times it does take a while to get a response. If you believe it's been too long, you can private message Jamez (yes with a z). You can search the members list to PM him. He will be able to assist.
As for photo taking, I can suggest that photos be taken as follows:
IF you are using a phone:
Find a box, about 6x6 or 8x8.
Place the box on the table.
Place the coin on the table, close to the base of the box.
Place the phone on top of the box and turn on the camera app.
Carefully slide the phone toward the edge so the camera can see the coin.
Adjust the coin closer if need be.
You can zoom in, but do not make the photo blurry at all.
Make sure there is no glare on the coin, use a lamp vice flash from the phone.
Withe the phone on the top of the box, you can stabilize the phone with one hand.
Gently tap the shutter to take a photo.
In the text area where you add a post, just to the top left , is a camera icon. That will toggle on/off the upload buttons.
Photos are best saved as JPG.
The photos on this website have to be less than 2mb each.
You should be able to upload 8 photos per post.
If more photos are needed, you can reply to your post and add more photos.
If you have a photo editing app on the phone, if need be, crop most of the background out of the photo. You should be able to draw a box around the coin. From there use the cropping tool to remove any unnecessary background. The cropping tool can look like a bent square.Last edited by MintErrors; 02-24-2024, 01:37 AM.Gary Kozera

I need to see if you all think i should or not. I think a couple are pretty good ones as soon as I figure out how to post some photos
Welcome aboard. You should start a post for yourself, as CONECA staff want only one coin per thread, and introductions are more personal for the original poster. it also cuts down on confusion.
