Welcome aboard.
In my opinion, a good read is
The error coin encyclopedia by Arnie Margolis.
It's getting a bit difficult to find, but it explains the way coins were made up to 1990 or so. It can be very helpful in understanding the minting process. Add some good ol' logic to the subject coin, and it makes error coin examinations a little clearer.
