CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

    Introduction

Name is Matt and I just became a new paying member this week and looking forward to learning more on error coins from everyone. I have been fascinated with coins for as long as I can remember (little works of art), but haven't started collecting until recently to build up a collection to pass on.

    Welcome aboard.

Some good members in here to answer your coin related questions

Since 2003, The US Mints have stepped up their quality assurance and controls to limit the amount of major errors that escape the mint. There are still minor errors like die chips, die cracks, and a few struck through grease or debris.

As far as semi major errors seen, a few partial collars and very minor off center coins I have spotted.

    Happy hunting.
