CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

    Hello

    Hello!

My name is Craig, originally from the northern Chicago suburbs and now in Columbia area of South Carolina (with a stop in Columbus, Ohio in between). Like most of us, I started collecting at a young age because of my parent, but it was my mom and not my dad to blame. I was mostly a US hole-filler for a long time with the occasional older purchase, plus modern FRN US paper. Recently, I've become fascinated with varieties, probably because I've been able to expand into better investments as an adult, but also because I love the thrill of the hunt. I love everything US from early copper to Seated types to modern-day roll hunting, although gold remains out of my reach. My favorites are probably the odd denominations, h1c, 2c, 3cn, 3cs, h10c, and 20c.

I also run AmbrotypeVisuals.com as an artistic photographer focusing mostly on the railroad but also some landscape and nature, etc. Very recently, I purchased a microscope and higher-end macro lens with mount to take good pictures of coins and close-ups of variety PUPs. I'm still learning for sure! It's quite an experience, going from capturing the huge to detailing the tiny.

So far, I'm not a CONECA member, but I'm guessing that's not far off.

    Thanks!

    Welcome aboard.

Some good members here to assist in answering your coin related questions.

There will be some painful times adjusting lights, lenses and cloth to cut down on glare to getting that good photo on pups, ddos ddrs and rpms. I. An only suggest that if you get too close, it may get blurry and eventually may not show enough.

    Happy hunting
