CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

Introduction, new to the entire hobby.

Hello all! I've kind of been "drug along" on the coin hobby train by my amazing husband. I never gave my change a second thought, now we have an upgraded scope arriving today, I have multiple coin resource sites in my bookmarks, and I love looking at Lincoln Cent die clashes! I prefer the cents, but also like the older nickels. Kenny switches between denominations to avoid burnout. We're both friendly and love to study and learn about the different errors and varieties.

My biggest inquiry at the moment is a somewhat silly one... why are die clashes not listed on many sites? Why do they hold little value or desire for collectors? If you would like to suggest some recommended reading, I would be grateful. I'm constantly on VV, Wexler's, LCR, and maddieclashes. I will say, Coppercoins' site is extremely frustrating to me. It seems like many of the links there don't work, but it could just be me.

    Welcome aboard.

I suggest looking at maddieclashes.com - they have the "atypical" and "typical" sections available.
Die clashes do happen, but not as much as people think. I don't know when they implemented the protections in place to keep clashes from happening, but during initial die set up, I believe they can still occur.

Doubleddie.com has a good learning area, especially under the worthless doubling section.

conecaonline.info is coming along, the volunteers at CONECA are doing that part of the website when they have time.

A great websiute for all things errors - and not errors - is https://error-ref.com look under the completed entries area.

    Happy Hunting

Thank you. I am on MDC almost daily, to be honest. I'm searching for info on clashes for the 2024 and 2009 EC cents at the moment.
