Hello fellow CONECA members!
My name is Brent Maley and I’m proud to say I just became a member myself. I’ve been an amateur numismatist since the second grade, the first purchase I ever made was an 8 Real off the Atocha. I had the honor or meeting and buying it from the man himself - Mel Fisher, shortly before he passed. I’d grown up hearing stories about him, reading books like Ship of Gold, and with a Red Book always in hand (as is likely the case for every member of this site)
As my interest in the field continued to grow, I eventually became familiar with the study of varieties and errors and it really stuck. Today, my collection has long since transformed from a hobby into a business. My focus is discovery (Plate) coins, interesting and rare varieties, Novodels, historically significant coins, dramatic errors…and the list continues to grow. I engage in both long term investments as well as quick flips.
I am very much looking forward to engaging with the professionals on this platform. I have always heard fantastic things about this community and I thank you for allowing me to be a part of it. I am excited to share my work with you and help others with theirs!
