CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • New Member Introductory Post

Hello! I just thought I would introduce myself here as I am new to this site. I've been collecting now for about the past year and a half or so but have, what I believe to be, a nice little collection. I primarily collect older US coins with a current focus on Morgan dollars. I was given used (and empty) Whitman Morgan albums from the 60's so I've been trying to get that filled out, much to the demise of my wallet. I also have a Dansco 7070 that I am working on that is about 75% complete, along with several older Whitman albums in the same status.

I enjoy searching through just about every coin I come across for different varieties and/or mint errors and sharing pictures of things I find interesting. Trying to identify VAM's in my Morgan collection is like a vice to me. I love it and hate it at the same time. But when I finally figure out which VAM it is I feel accomplished having done so, so it makes it worth the time spent figuring it out to me in the end. I have several coins that I will eventually share here to gather some opinions on what lead to the resulting error, but one coin in particular lead me to this site. That coin is my 1956 (P) quarter that I believe has both occluded and ruptured gas bubbles on the obverse. Having mentioned it and sharing images in a different forum, it was eventually recommended to me by members of that site to join and post here. So here I am!

I am excited to get my feet wet here and share in the knowledge and experience that I admittedly may be lacking in when it comes to errors and varieties. I think I have a knack for getting the gist of things most of the time and I learn fairly quickly, but please have a little patience with me while I learn as I am still kind of green in comparison to many experienced collectors. Thanks for having me here and I look forward to sharing!

Just another one who got addicted to the chase! I'm here to learn. At year 2, I totally recognize how much there is to know. There is sooo much to numismatics, and coin collecting isn't even the word...coin obsession is my hobby and I can't go a day without it!
I'm also a rockhound and can honestly say "gold fever" is an true fever.
Look forward to making your acquaintances!

Welcome aboard, it sounds like you have your hands full in life.

one thing i would like to point out here. It is best to start your own posts in this forum, as the CONECA staff likes everyone to create their own posts. They also have rules like, no asking to grade a raw coin, or talking about value of coins. The rest is basically in the forum rules, or a question away.

Enjoy your hobby and stay here = )
