CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    Starting with pennies

    Hi there ! My name is Brittany. I never collected coins or knew anything about the world of numismatics until May or April of this past year. I am currently going through tons of wheat pennies my grandfather had and more from my aunt who passed away. I have been learning all I can and have some error coins I think may be valuable but I want to be sure. ! I have fallen in love with all of this and have been learning all I can for months. It's like treasure hunting but I still have so much more to sort through.

    if you can pick up a Red Book for coins, you'd be off to a good start but there are different variations of it. not the mega red, not the professional edition.

    the mega red is like an encyclopedia but costs a lot more but when you see the book, you'll know it.
