Introduction
Hello, my name is Kathie I enjoy hunting for coins. I joined on 11/30 and became a member today and I am excited. When I was younger my family collected coins. I just started collecting about three years ago. I have found that you cannot let just anyone tell you about your coins. I am here to learn and ask questions.Tags: None

Welcome aboard.
There are some good folks in this forum, to answer your coin related questions.
We can help you with the coins. The reason being on this forum, they frown about talking value of raw coins and raw coin grades. The experience here is about the coin. Ii will say several of the people have decades of experience and will offer their professional opinion on it.
Many here are willing to help identify what it could be. This website deals mainly with errors and varieties, but an occasional "normal" coin is posted in the general forum area.
Collectively, we can point you in the right direction to include websites that have documented examples of varieties and some errors.
Happy hunting.

Thank you for the warm welcome and information. I have been navigating around the site to understand exactly how where and what to post. I do not want to post in the wrong forum.
Nice to meet you

The CONECA Forum does have a moderator, but the less posts he has to move the better.
There are a few main forums, just in case you don't understand where things go, I can offer a summary.
The die variety forum should have topics related to
Doubled dies (Doubled die obverse, Doubled die reverse)
Repunched mintmarks (D over D, S over S)
Over mint marks (D over S, S over D etc.)
Repunched dates (same date punched at least twice into a die)
Over dates (at least two different dates punched into a die)
A few websites that cater to many varieties are
Https://conecaonline.info
The mint error forum has just about everything else
Off centers
Brockage
Clipped planchet
Double, Triple or multiple struck
Die cap
Die chips or cracks
Incomplete punch
Lamination error
Transition error
Struck through grease or debris
Struck on wrong planchet
And many more.
Additional errors can be found at
Https://error-ref.com under the completed entries area.
Plenty of other variety and/or error websites are out there. Depends on your interests.
General forum is a catch all.
CONECA Services has private areas that you can post a question to a CONECA staff member. CONECA uses this area to pre-screen anything that might be consider a send in. The CONECA staff looks at the coin on line and, if they determine they want to see it in hand, they will let the coin owner know. I do not know if the pre-screen costs anything. If it does, its a pretty low fee. More details can be seen on the main CONECA website, https://conecaonline.org
website. This area is broken down into two categories:
Examinations is for error type coins.
Attributions is for variety type coins.
That's about it.
Happy hunting.
Jamez Hopefully CONECA staff can use this info as a sticky to cut down on posting confusion for those brand new to the forum / hobby. CONECA staff can take it and copy/move/modify as they wish.Last edited by MintErrors; 12-07-2024, 10:57 AM.

I appreciate all the information. I still have a few coins that I have not found, or should I say I am not sure what they would be classified as. I am glad I was watching CoinHelpU on YouTube, and in the video, I was introduced to CONECA. The information you provided helped me learn where I am to study and post. Again thank you

In my opinion, you don't have to put it in a perfect forum. If you are unsure, place it in the general forum, and things will go onward. Let us know if you need info on uploading photos. We look forward to assisting you.
Happy hunting.

Hi MintErrors,
I hope you’re doing well. I wanted to share that I haven’t been able to join any forums lately due to some family matters. The main issue has been my eyesight; I’ve been dealing with cataracts. Additionally, my transportation has been unreliable. Every time we fix one problem, another one seems to arise, which makes it difficult to get to my cataract removal appointments. My eyesight was declining to the point where I struggled to see clearly. I just got both eyes done on June 11th, and oh my, it is like I have a whole new set of eyes. Now I am ready to dive in. I am still confused about a few errors. I do not know what they are classified under, although I do remember seeing a YouTube video on coin errors with a similar characteristic. I just opened all of my ERRORSCOPE issues now that I have my vision back.

Welcome back.
I understand about other priorities. I have a armful of projects going on at the moment. My time here will be sparse at best. I did leave you a reply on your re-introduction post. In my signature block below are some helpful posts here on this forum. If you do not get many responses here, on my website, the website address is in my signature block, I do list a contact email in many of the posts there.
Let's hope you have some bell ringers in your collection. Be careful which videos you trust. Many may be misleading and incorrect.
