CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

    Introductions

How y'all doin, my name is Jon and I am new to the Coneca family. I'm a 39 year old mechanic in a small town in Eastern Kentucky. I have been collecting error coins for about a year now, in which I have managed to accumulate a rather large collection, most being Lincoln Memorial Cent's. I'm pretty sure I am the only person in town that looks for and collects error coins or any coin for that matter. So, about everyone I know here saves any weird looking pocket change and all their pennies for me. Which I then buy from them at face value then, meticulously go through every single one. Hope you guys have very merry Christmas and enjoy bringing in the new year with the one's you love.

If I have a question about a coin, is it okay to ask about it in the forum, with a picture attached?

        Hello
My name is Rich Menchio I’m 58 and have been dabbling in coins and sports trading cards since I received my grandfather’s leftover collection after the family looted it lol. I try to collect error coins or things that just look weird. That being said my knowledge is very limited so I will be asking a lot of questions and I hope I don’t irritate anyone.
especially when it comes to double dies vs mechanical doubling. I hear so many people saying certain things are mechanical doubling but in the error books or even the error scopes it shows the same thing as a true doubled die.

Do I post my questions and images here or on forums and do you prefer the image be of the entire coin or just the part in question?

        thank you
        Rich

          Welcome aboard.

It is best to post in the appropriate forum. Here is a post to guide you.

I think this post is probably better for a sticky. It is not at the bottom of a post by some one else. I will do another for photo taking with a cellphone.
