CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

    New Member Introduction

    Hello CONECA community!

My name is Derrick and I am super excited to join this community. I have only recently found a passion for coin collecting after helping my daughter with a science project related to the cleaning of coins. I have developed an addiction searching for errors and varieties while coin roll hunting. I look forward to learning from all of you.

    Thanks,
    Derrick

    Welcome aboard.

But, for the record cleaning a coin can destroy the numismatic value.
Most collectors and dealers wont touch a cleaned coin, as it typically reduces the value by 50% or more.

Its a great relaxing and enjoyable hobby. But it has those moments of boring, disappointments, elation, excitement and others. Its truly a roller coaster ride hobbybthat can be semi controlled depending on what route one wants to travel.

    Happy hunting.

Thanks MintErrors! And, yes, my daughter and I discovered during our research for her science project that cleaning coins is viewed as a no-no in most cases.

I definitely have had my share of rollercoaster moments.

      Best,
      Derrick

Welcome aboard. Just a small note, it is best to start your own post for introductions or for coin questions. There is usuall a blue button to start a topic that will show up in the appropriate forum to get you started.

It helps cut down on confusion.

          Here is a helpful post...
I think this post is probably better for a sticky. It is not at the bottom of a post by some one else. I will do another for photo taking with a cellphone.
